Kinda Back.

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

So I was without internet for the past while in case people (Read: Kaze. I know this because he asked me via text like yesterday or so. Kaze, you killed the last of my minutes with that text, you fuck. Please find enclosed, one knife. Kindly swallow it. XD) didn’t know or were wondering.

As such, I appear to be back. I say kinda as I’m not sure how well or long it’ll hold for either. How I got back on is kinda funny as well. At least, to me it is. XD

Before you ask, Fid, no, nothing got done with Shadowgate ReBorn. I wasn’t allowed to use the computer due to my Dad thinking that at the time I had broken the network card because it said its media was disconnected. Y’know? Meaning it just couldn’t get a signal? Trying to explain didn’t work. It did eventually though, as evidenced by me being here to try to get the net working. Him being unreasonable was a result of withdrawal symptoms, as he had (finally) quit smoking. Apparently quitting something you’ve been doing for 35 years (that’s also addictive or something) is hard. Who knew. XD

Anyways, nothing new to report other than I played lots of games, I found out I’m awesome at Modern Warfare 2, and that the Castlevania fighting game (Although it plays more like a 3rd person action game. Like Onimusha or something, while still being kinda like a fighter.) for the Wii isn’t bad at all.

(Irrelevant Sidenote: Fuck the Tokay. Fuck them oh so hard. With a rusty spoon. Made of barded wire. Dipped in salty acid.)

Peace.

Good News, Everyone!

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

I have finished that demo update I posted about. All the bugs of the previous demo should be gone now. As well, I’ve revised some of the script. The beginning of the game looks rather different now as well.

One more possibly important note: It’s longer than the previous demo.
That, and your saves from the old demo are not compatible with the new one.

This is due to many of the events I changed to remove bugs and the like. So my apologies.

Just go to the Shadowgate ReBorn page, download, install, and enjoy!

EDIT: Uploaded a hopefully glitch free version.

My Apologies

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

So I had planned for yesterday to be the day where I release something ReBorn related. Namely, an updated demo. I have even mentioned that in an earlier post.

Suffice it to say, I missed that date. Due to me being sick, I didn’t get any work done. Thus, the update has been delayed to a date I don’t know yet. Probably a week from a now or something.

Sorry gaiz.

Milestones. I reach them.

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Welp, I’ve finally reached 100 posts. I had wanted to do something to commemorate this occasion, but it seems I shan’t be doing that. Ah well.

I had taken a break from working on the ReBorn project. So very little progress has been made on it. Anyways, I do have some good news for you.

A tentative demo update: June 20th. Huzzah!
I guess that’s all for now. Oh, a new ESM has been released.
ESM 53: Force Your Way. Enjoy!

EDIT: Another ESM has been released.

Level Up!

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

So as you may have noticed, the site has undergone a major overhaul. Also, “Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Success” has been integrated into the site. In terms of things ReBorn, some more progress was made, including the entirety of the Sphinx’s Room. Although, it’s not a Sphinx anymore.

Lastly, I want to thank Fid (Mopquill) who has worked hard on the site design to meet my requests. The deity really is nearly cosmic, and even semi-phenomenal. So, my thanks to Fid. He rocks. Something hardcore of course.

Oh, and the Shoutbox is still being fine tuned, so it may not be working properly at the moment. :D Nevermind. XD

Edit: Oh yeah, I’ve upgraded my First Impressions review of World of Goo to a Final Review, as I’ve finished that game. I’ve elaborated on some things, and it has a different score now. Take a look!
Edit Again: The ESM playlist was broken due to Fid’s decision to drop the wwws. This is fixed now.
Edit Yet Again: A new ESM has been released.
Another Edit: I’ve got a userbar for the Shadowgate ReBorn project now.

BBC (For forum signatures):

HTML (For whatever else):

It’ll look like this:

I could have just made another post, instead of all these edits. However, I want to make my 100th post something special. Not sure yet.

Small ReBorn Report

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Thought I’d update this. The game is now at 60% standard completion. This means that not counting any extra stuff I may have planned, it’s 60% done.

If you somehow don’t understand that, you won’t want to play the game when it’s done.
It’ll be too hard for you. XD

EDIT: I’ve added links to Shadiko, and Erbavace’s websites. One to Shadiko’s, one to Erbavace’s. One wonders if they’ll link to here.

Le Sigh

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

I’ve been without internet for almost two weeks.
On the status of things both ReBorn and not, I didn’t do much.
I was busy with other things. Such as Life.
What a damnable time waster that can be.
Ah well. It goes on nonetheless.

ESM Status: Haven’t touched them. They’re all ready to be worked on, I just haven’t done so yet.
ReBorn Report: The game is more than half done now. It may be released soon. :P
Life Log: My birthday is in 9 days. I’ll be 20. Huzzah.
Internet Inquiry: I has it again, but I don’t know for how long. As per usual. Yar.

Anyways, that’s all for now. Peace.

A ReBorn Report

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

I’ve started work on the full game. The first thing I did was remove the demo’s ending.
My apologies to Lina. XD

People who’ve beaten the demo will understand my apology.

Anyways, when taking a break from working on the game, I had gone to EF.
One of the users there had notified me of a bug in the demo. It was a pretty major bug. XC
I fixed it in a few minutes though. :D
I then decided to go bug hunting through the rest of the demo.
Finding a few bugs, I soon fixed them.
However, I will not be uploading the bug-free version of the demo.
This is due to what I said about the ending.

So, I’ll tell you about the major bug, as it’s gamebreaking. XD
Whatever you do in the demo, do not enter the cave on the other side of the rickety bridge.
On your way back out again, you’ll have 0 HP, and die as soon as you use an item or spell.
You never have to enter this cave in the demo, and you can’t do what’s needed to be done in there anyways.

The other bugs were minor, and you may not even notice them.
So I won’t mention them.

Anyways, in the full game, the Fire Room’s events are now complete.
Progress has slowed a bit, as the game needs more complex events now.

Shadowgate ReBorn Demo

Friday, April 10th, 2009

So I have completed the demo!
But first, screenshots!

Title Screen
Main Gate
Warlock Lord
Subscreen
Item Screen

You can download the demo here.

EDIT: I completely forgot to post the controls. XD

Arrow Keys are used to move.
Z is choose. X is cancel.
X also brings up the subscreen.
…I think C also does that, but I forget. Just ignore this line. XD
Oh, and you can hold Shift to dash. I had forgotten that. Sorry.
And, no, you don’t need any other programs to play this game.

ReBorn Progress Report

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

So, I was without internet for a couple of days. Again.
As a result, I got lot of work done in Shadowgate ReBorn.

The entire game is mapped out now. This means that walls, doors, objects, etc. etc. are all placed.
Most of them do nothing due to not having any events set.

Now then, I’ve fully completed events for all of the rooms that you can get to without entering the EPOR Room, the Room of Mirrors, or the lake with the skeleton in it.

I’m playtesting it as well, to make sure that the events work.
I’m also doing a second run through the original game so I can properly set the events.

Next, I’ll address some changes I’ve made.
For one, I’m leaving the torch system until last. Then I can make two copies of the game. One that uses it, and one that does not. This assumes I can implement a torch system of course. Torches will still have other uses regardless.

Secondly, the suicides via your own weapons (Sword, Spear, Hammer, etc.) have been removed. This is simply because RPG Maker VX won’t let me use a weapon as an item. I’ve thought of a couple ways to get around this that I haven’t tried yet, so hopefully it won’t be a permanent removal.

Lastly, there’s a few script changes, and object changes. Don’t worry, nothing major.
I do plan to add a secret area that wasn’t in the original game though.

I guess that’s it. When next I work on it, I’ll be starting on the EPOR Room.
